    Mark Twain said if you tell the truth all the time, you don't have to remember anything. Luxury, of course, requires that you maintain it. That you have to keep spending lots of money to keep up appearances. If you live a life of truth, with very few possessions or cares, then you reduce your life to its simplest reaches.

    It means that both luxury and lies require maintenance. Luxury cars, for example have expensive maintenance costs - everything is more than for a regular car. Lies, too, are costly because it takes a lot of work to continuously cover them up - often with more lies. But truth simply is, so you don’t have to try to remember what it was you said or how other things might come up that contradict your lies - they’re easier, just like simple things are easier.
