Are midgets the same species as normal people?

When anthropologists find dwarf bones, they call it homo floresiensis. Seems a little retarded, considering I have a friend whose mom is a dwarf and he has a kid.

    That name is for the specimens found on Flores island in Indonesia. They are an early man race found only there. It does not refer to any other type of person. They were just a race of small people. Today we would call them pygmies.

      No. Pygmy is a name for tribes of short statured peoples. It is an older word. They are humans, not a subspecies.

    Acts 17:24-26

    God that made the world and all things therein, seeing that he is Lord of heaven and earth, dwelleth not in temples made with hands; [25] Neither is worshipped with men's hands, as though he needed any thing, seeing he giveth to all life, and breath, and all things; [26] And hath made of one blood all nations of men for to dwell on all the face of the earth, and hath determined the times before appointed, and the bounds of their habitation;

    Evolution is very entertaining fiction...new and improved "theories" "evolving" every day...

      You live in the world of fiction.

    Yes, of course they are the same species as 'normal people'. They might even be the same species as you. Scientists did not just look at the height Homo Floriensis when trying to determine if they were a separate species. Wikipedia says, "These remains have been the subject of intense research to determine whether they represent a species distinct from modern humans;[5] the dominant consensus is that these remains do represent a distinct species due to genetic and anatomical differences." It is clear that it is not a question that has been definitely concluded. Why does this matter to you so much anyway?

    Those aren't midgets..

    Homo floresiensis ("Flores Man"; nicknamed "hobbit") is an extinct species in the genus Homo. The remains of an individual who would have stood about 1.1 m (3 ft 7 in) in height were discovered in 2003 at Liang Bua on the island of Flores in Indonesia.

    Firstly, we don't use that word.  It's rude.  They're dwarves or 'short people'.

    Of course they're normal people.

    When anthropologists find other humanoid remains, they're called homo erectus or homo habilis, or whatever.  All our distant ancestors have different names.

    I laughed way too hard at this question.  Why, YES, they are the same species as "normal" people, whatever those are.
