Why are there so many sports shows like ESPN's First Take that features men and women debating about the same thing ?

First Take: Stephen A. Smith, Max Kellerman, and Molly Qerim.

FS1's Undisputed: Shannon Sharpe, Skip Bayless, and Jenny Taft.

FS1's First Things First: Nick Wright and Jenna Wolfe.

ESPN's Get Up!: Mike Greenberg, Jalen Rose, Maria Taylor, and Laura Rutledge.

I don't mind women having debates with men on sports show since most women know their sports, but why not have some sports show with just men instead of always having women feature in almost every sports show? Plus, they'll" have the same debates about the same thing you have already heard.

There are so many of them because they are cheap to make, if you have Greenburg under contract for radio show. It doesn't cost that much to ad a TV spot. Very few special effects, editing, or music licensing needed.

They talk about the same things the same reason radio will talk about the same thing. The bulk of the viewership has their timeslot and/or personality they like and watch that. Most people do not have espn going 24/7. Since this is the case many people will complain if their show didn't cover X.

The target audience is generally guys, and studies find guys like looking at women.

  • It's all crap. Stephen A. Smith and Skip Bayless make Steve Simmons look like Grantland Rice by comparison and I hate Simmons with the fire of 1000 suns.
