How does The Stranger by Albert Camus reflect the existentialist proposition that existence precedes essence?

I also gave this great thought when I was fourteen. I came to the conclusion (1) 'The Outsider' was not an existentialist and (2) neither was Camus. Furthermore there are doubts as to his claim to have been a member of any Algerian national football squad.
