What will the United States health system ( medicare ) system be like in 2040 ?

In this current direction the country is headed and how much more expensive is going to get and how this country is going to hold up when average citizens can't pay for even simple medicine .

Something other than the  current MediCare, will be needed. Otherwise how are you going to care for yet MORE older people, who are living longer.

I see research into the AGEING process itself, as one answer. The world doesn't need  more senile and nonproductive bodies and minds. Maybe euthanasia will become more common.

The only 2 things I can see, with current abilities.

It doesn't have a system. It just has doctors, hospitals and compulsory insurance.

The very rich will be healthy,, the rest will die from easily curable diseases because they won't be able to afford the cure.
