Can/should I coat a hitch ball mount in bedliner?

To prevent rust and add some durability, is it a good idea to paint the ball mount for a tow hitch with lineX bedliner coating?

You can paint the mount with whatever you want, but do not paint the ball itself. That should be left bare. Most people will coat it with grease and cover it, either with a specific cover or even a split tennis ball, mostly to avoid people getting grease on them should they brush against it.

Many people put a split tennis ball over the tow hitch to protect it.

No. That would be a bad idea.

    If you're a dumbass, yes, it's a good idea.

No. Grease is the correct material. Pop a ball hitch cover on top to avoid soiling clothes.

No, it's NOT a "good idea".
