Who are we really? The egg or the sperm?
Before fertilization and all, from the begining are we the individuals the egg that was fertiziled by the sperm or were we always the sperm that consumed the egg to grow?

First of all the sperm does not consume the egg. The sperm is absorbed by the egg. The egg is never consumed.
Before fertilization there was no person, no human, no zygote, or pieces of DNA that you find in any cell in your body. The potential for a person only begins when the sperm donates 1/2 the nuclear DNA to an egg which contains 1/2 the nuclear DNA and all of mitochrondrial DNA.
So it isn't a question whether the person is contained in the sperm or the egg. It needs both, and most of it comes from the egg.

The father contributes half the non-mitochondrial non-biome DNA.
The mother contributes all the mitochondrial NDA, all of the biome DNA and half the non-mitochondrial non-biome DNA.
So, at least in terms of DNA, clearly Mom contributes the most information.
She also contributes essentially all of the nutrients that go into building the zygote into a birthable baby.
She even contributes to post-birth nutrition in the form of mother's milk.
Don't me wrong: Fathers contribute a *LOT*, particularly after the baby has stopped suckling, but getting to that point, the vast Vast VAST majority of genetics/time/calories spent on making the baby come from Mom.
