Why would there be piles of loot in a cave? Possible tomb?

We found a hidden cave in the Georgia mountains that had what looked like an artificial tunnel in a rock face that was previously blocked up.

The tunnel sloped down at a 45 degree angle to a level with black rock. There were lots of passages in this level and a chamber filled with loot. The loot consisted of stacks of paintings, massive heaps of the stuff you find on Pinterest and Etsy, stacks of white paper wrapped bales with the stamped image of a scorpion on them. Jewelry boxes adorned with elaborate designs made of glued together seashells and tiny paper pieces filled with a greenish leafy flaky incense like substance.

We could not find a coffin anywhere down there nor were any urns found but the tunnels are a massive labyrinth. We didn’t venture too far in for fear of getting lost.

Why would loot get put in a cave? Possible civil war loot, maybe hidden before confederate surrender? Maybe old British treasure from the revolutionary war?

Update:

The entrance passage appeared to have once been sealed by two large plugging stones slid down the passage, but those stones had been broken through and demolished. The entrance was also probably Faced over with a stone slab and filled in in front but that fill material eroded away over time. In the descending passage the wall was painted with a grim reaper and the words ,”Go No Further” and the words ,”BAD AIR” and ,”BLACKDAMP”

You can date the stuff you find and get a plausible answer. For example, look for signs that the stuff are modern (e.g. compact discs). If the stuff are modern then it cannot be put there before they were invented, and must have been placed there quite recently.
