What is dividing Sunnis and Shias?

i have come to the conclusion that the people living there in the middle east have never been at peace, but have always had wars. it must be their belief that religion has no power to overcome wrongs and evils between people, and that war as conflict between people is the only way to live.
they have put their faith in islam, mostly, and have been betrayed by it, as they have never known peace. it is the dream of peace which brings people to practice a religion, and as such it is so sad to see the failures of religions to overcome the suffering of the people and to seek only their own power-over-others. "power over others" is one of the biggest sins in any religion. this betrays the very meaning of faith. a true religion would bring the people to peace. the true buddha nichiren daishonin reveals that true enlightenment to overcome suffering is the chanting of "nam-myoho-renge-kyo". this is something that must come from within the person, not from without in the social environment, the political government, or the religious group, church, or people. true peace comes from within the person. "nam-myoho-renge-kyo" is the spiritual power within ourselves to overcome the evils in our life. this is not to change other people, but to change ourselves. if we want peace, then we need to chant "nam-myoho-renge-kyo".Source(s): http://nichiren.info/gosho/KalpaDecrease.htm http://nichiren.info/gosho/OnAttainingBuddhahood.h... http://nichiren.info/gosho/RisshoAnkokuRon.htm https://www.google.com/search?q=the+three+fold+lot...

Your illustration of a Sunni shows the problem quite clearly!

They do not accept the beliefs of several kinds of Islamic and even view them as worse or apostate so they are going to hell. We should be thank full for that they could have taken over the world by now if they did not spend most of their time in revenge killing of each other.

Shias would be the liberals, and Sunnis the conservatives. It's a question of strictness.

Pretty much the same thing that divides any other radical religious group. One of their leaders decides he doesn't like what the other group is teaching, so he goes away and forms his own group. Same thing happens between different groups of Christians, Jews, Mormons, etc.
