Were Christmas trees not used in the old days?

    No they have not always been used. They became popular in the second half of the 19th century. However, the earliest known firmly dated representation of a Christmas tree is on the keystone sculpture of a private home in Turckheim, Alsace (then part of Germany, today France), with the date 1576.

    They're actually a pagan winter solstice item, that with variations can be found across the many countries in many religions and predate Christianity!
