Why do some of these singers have few hits songs and then become mediocre?

    Yes, and there's even a name for it: One hit wonder. Singing is only part of it. Having a song that grabs people's attention is quite something else.

    Different reasons. Some are simply not that talented and lucked out on a few hits. Others are good but they are not lucky. Sometimes the musical tastes of the public simply changed and the artists fail to adapt.

    Music Chart Manipulation.

    They do it for a song or two to fraudulently earn money. 

    Occasionally an entertainer will continuously manipulate the charts, such as JZ and Beyonce.

    JZ can't even rap. He just reads the words off of paper, WITH NO RHYTHM OR STYLE

    Not sure. Maybe they weren't that interested in making it big-time or wasn't given the chance.
