Series combo physics question?

A circuit contains a resistor in series with a capacitor, the series combination being connected across the terminals of a battery. The time constant for charging the capacitor is 6.1 s when the resistor has a resistance of 1.7 x 104 Ω. What would the time constant be if the resistance had a value of 6.3 x 104 Ω?

    R1*C = 6.1s

    R2 = (63/17)*R1

    R2*C = (63/17)*R1*C = (63/17)*6.1 = 22.6s <<<<<<

    T = RC is the formula which you can also look up.

    Did you mean 10^4?
