Had a knee injury due to falling on ice. How long before it's totally healed?

I fell on ice several weeks ago and it and my knee bruised and puffed out quite a bit.

I still have some pain and it feels like there's a cushion on the kneecap.

How long before the knee is totally healed please?

12 weeks minimum provided you did not break the cap

Talk to your family doctor. How long it takes to heal depends on what was injured, and in some cases it might not heal without physical therapy, or even surgery. The longer you let it go - depending on the nature of the injury - the harder it might be to heal it.

I fell on ice and ruptured the right meniscus on one of my knees. I cannot be repaired, but it can be managed with regular strengthening of my gluteous medius and gluteous minimus muscles on both sides of my backside ... so that I can walk without pain.  They could just operate and remove that meniscus, but since it operates as a shock absorber, removing it would end up causing arthritis in my knee and eventually require surgery for knee replacment.

Of course, this may not be the cause of YOUR swelling and pain.

    See your doctor.
