Is playing the national lottery a sin?

    I don't think so, although most things can be sinful if carried to extremes.

    Personally, I don't gamble, as the odds always favor the house, and I get no thrill out of it.  As for making money, plain old work and conservative investments have been enough in my case.

    Gambling mean your take a risk for luck, which is called betting and you lost it all of your capital or you win something with out doing any work . Then gambling cause enmity to each other and the way to to ruin then become a sin, whether legally or illegally.

    The Bible is actually quite silent on gambling.  The most cited text is that the Roman Soldiers "cast lot" for Jesus' clothing as he was being crucified.

    But given that as a kid of 12 years old, I was running the poker wheel at my church's annual bazaar, I would say not.
