Since my dad is a pathological liar The rare occasions that he shows empathy is that too probably a lie?

Someone indicated to him recently that I needed him and my mother to show more empathy however since my father lies so much I’m wondering if empathy would just be a lie on his part.

Are you acquainted with "Aesop's Fables"? The one entitled "The boy who cried wolf"? great story. In it, the one time he was telling the truth about there being a wolf, he was killed and eaten by it. Problem being he cried, "wolf!" so often when there was no wolf that no one believed him when there was one. But he was not the only one who suffered because he was minding the sheep. SO everyone suffered the day they didn't believe him when he told the truth. Life is complicated that way.
