Darwin thought that humans had progressively evolved from Apes? and Apes evolved from other monkeys?

what he thought about the reason that some humans resemble apes more than other humans?

btw, are "Apes" the mostt intelligent "monkeys"? or are some more intelligent than others? why maybe?

    Among simians, apes are

    - tailless

    - bipedal, at least if needed

    - bigger on average than other monkeys

    - higher brain to body mass ratio (an indicator of intelligence).

Baboons (because they're big) and macaques (because some of them are tailless) had been erroneously classified as apes. They are now Old World Monkeys (Cercopithecidae)
