If I have been assigned standby jury duty, what does that mean?

    It means you check each night (online or by phone) to see if they want you to come the next morning.

    It means you have jury duty, but may or may not have to report to the courthouse.

    i think it means they dont know if theyre going to put you thru jury duty or not

    The standby system of jury duty requires that people ring in to serve check in rather than being at the court in the morning. They only have to go in if and when they are needed.

    you still have to be there, IN CASE a sitting juror gets sick or something.  You'll still have to sit thru the ENTIRE trial .....................
