The latitude of Winnipeg is about 49.9 degrees N. If the earth's axis were tilted at 45 degrees, and if the northern hemisphere winter solstice were still around December 21st, the sun would be below the horizon at Winnipeg all day long, for some number of days in late December, probably including December 25th. However, there would be a sort of dawn-like twilight at Winnipeg each day, as the sun would be only a few degrees below the horizon for a short time each day.

The calendar would be messed up. It strikes me that one day would equal one year. My head hurts.
