Why was my toddlers temperature short-lived?

My daughter had a temp last night of 99.4 and this morning it was 102.9. Now, about five hours later it’s non existent. She has a cough and runny nose. Any idea why that would happen?

That's a good sign.  Fevers caused by viral infections normally go through cycles like that.  And toddlers tend to get higher temperatures than adults.
