Is it a crime to out someone in New York?

Someone shared screen shots of a private conversation I had (pics too). I found out that the person that was sent the screenshots wants to out me. Is there something I can do? What precautions can I take?

As long as it is not a photo of someone, shared without that person’s consent, I don’t believe it is a crime to share screenshots of a text conversation, *unless* there was a prior well documented agreement to not do so.

On the other hand, if this person is in any way saying they will not out you *if* you agree to do something to prevent it, then they are of course guilty of blackmail, which I can confidently say is illegal in New York.
