I found out one of my high school friends is transgender now. What should I do?

I haven't spoken to him since about 1992, we went to high school together in the 80s, found out from other friends I reconnected with that he identifies as a woman now and is transgender now and went through the surgery and stuff, what should I do about this?

Update:

I just never expected this from him, he was a football player and everything.

Why do you need to do anything about it?  You haven't spoken to this friend since 1992 - 28 years ago!

Why do you think you have to "do something about" it? I don't understand why it's an issue for you. You don't even know the person anymore.

1/. You haven't seen or spoken to her for years so you don't do anything.

To contact her now is for your benefit not hers.

2/. If you see or hear from her you greet her as you would any other old friend that you have not seen for awhile.

3/. Just because she once played football doesn't mean that it was who they really were. Maybe she played football due to expectations, wanting to be someone she wasn't. If you see her ... Be kind.

    Note I refer to her

Making the choice he did would not have been easy.

    Self isolate, IMMEDIATELY

I think you are low risk in catching it, but best be safe
