How is the Coronavirus still spreading if we are on lock down?

There are still businesses open--there are people who are showing no symptoms and thinking they are not infectious but who still ARE and are socializing anyway--or working anyway--and the statistics from everyone who has it or did have it are not completely collected yet. And then there are the assholes who think they can defy the stay-at-home orders and just do what they want to anyway and that it will be okay.

Because not everyone has the same character as you. This COVID-19 thing is really reavealing people's true character. Some care so much about others, that they will go through almost any inconvenience to keep society safe. Then there are those who are the opposite.

Have you not seen all the idiots congregating out in public?

It takes 7-14 days to show, so people have passed it on before they realise they had it. Also it has mild symptoms in some people so they might not know they had it. Also people are picking it up from contact with objects that have been infected.

In an ideal situation where everyone absolutely stays at home, there spreading will seem to be happening when already infected people who previously didn't have symptoms before the lockdown begin showing up. At some point, the addition of new cases will go down and if the lockdown lasts for a really long time, any remaining virus in the environment will die for lack of a host to infect.
However, nothing is ideal. People still move. The virus always has chances to infect people.
I still believe total lockdowns won't work. What we need is for people to responsibly do the right thing. When they think they're infected or show the signs or have been to places where there are validated cases of infection, they should self-quarantine for 14 days. It's all for the best of everybody. At least the healthy ones who aren't infected yet can continue with their normal lives and support those who are in isolation. In a world where people think more about themselves, their rights and their comforts, how would this ever happen?

Because some people are not following the rules

Not everyone is completely isolated from everyone else.

Spring break--virus parties--national parks are packed. Too many people are defying the isolate in place order and are out in big groups and then returning to family and infecting others.

because people aren't following the restrictions of the Coronavirus.
