Why is President Donald Trump so eager to stop social distancing and go on as normal in the midst of COVID-19 infectious virus?

Prime Minister Trudeau has signaled he's open to tightening the border further if the U.S. becomes the new epicenter of Covid-19. But President Donald Trump's eagerness to stop social distancing in just weeks to help jump-start the U.S. economy could force the issue.

Will there be an issue between the US & Canada over the border? Would this put political/economic strain on the 2 countries?

Trump does not control the pandemic. He is merely a loudspeaker. He would like to see the economy return to normal ASAP, because he has an election to deal with this year. However he cannot stop the spread of the pandemic by talking it down.

If the pandemic lingers, and the economy fails to recovery quickly enough, then he stands little chance of being reelected.

Social distancing HAS NEVER BEEN PROVEN to prevent anything from spreading.

' FACT'There is not enough BUDGET or MONEY in the GOVERNMENT to keep the economy running and people paying their bills, People, Jobs and WORKING and WORKERS PAYING TAXES is what keep a country up and running. 'ANY COUNTRY who HAS NO and or VERY FEW PEOPLE WORKING is going to have a good economy or a growing economy. 'That SHOULD BE COMMON SENSE... 'The dems want to TOTALLY SHUT THINGS down and try to make everyone totally dependent on them... 'BUT... 'WHERE are they going to get money from after they run out... 'THEY AGAIN will point the FINGER and SAY ITS TRUMPS fault for telling you to not work and to stay home longer and apply for UNEMPLOYMENT from the GOVERNMENT who HAS NO MONEY TO GIVE YOU...

If Trump starts trouble with Canada he will be impeached for sure. Messing with out number one trading partner and closest ally will force even Lindsay Graham to stop grovelling and pay attention. You just don't attack a NATO ally.

Because he's an idiot.  Seriously, I would be glad to not "practice social distancing", but Trump's "dream to have a whole bunch of people packed together in a closed space for Easter services" is just foolish.

A naive understanding of how the economy works.

Modern neoliberals live in a fairy tale world where economic textbooks are talking about something real. (As opposed to mathematical masturbation).

    ''If only people would spend!''

America has had the luxury to live in a bubble, where the reserve currency allowed for the goods of the world to come cheaply to her shores. This has given the population the luxury of believing in nonsense. Nothing is easier than making people believe they are the most clever, most hard-working, most innovative, most this and that wonderful quality in all the world and THAT'S why they have riches.

Donald Trump is an expert at telling people the lies they desperately want to hear. Right now, of course, he'll start bragging about the stock markets. Because nothing says free markets like a $6 trillion infusion of government cash.
