Why does this only happen when i take a picture from my phone and send it to my email to print?

    Use a scanner app. There's free ones. I use Adobe scan, it fixes shadowing and makes photos look like they have been scanned.

    Your computer may want you to download the picture into your files and then do the printing.

    Why does what happen????  That looks exactly like what I would expect when you print a photo of a piece of paper.  If you change photo to a strict black and white, it might use much less toner.
