    It means people have feelings and need to be treated like they have feelings. So don't be rude or mean and act grown.

    Who is your friend talking about, you or him/her self? Maybe someone is treating you badly and your friend is reacting to that by saying you don't have to (shouldn't) put up with it. Or are you maybe treating your friend badly and need to treat him/her better?
