Is the name Amanda too outdated in 2020?

I want to name my daughter Amanda, but I know it was a very popular name in the 1980s.

I wouldn't say its outdated, its just not popular anymore.

When i hear the name amanda i picture a 50 y/o woman or older.

    That is far from "outdated".

A truly outdated name is something you can't picture on anyone but an elderly grandmother - like Gertrude or Agnus.  (for anyone who has recently used those names - sorry - just making an example).

Amanda is still current and should not be a name that is becoming "outdated" yet.

I certainly don't think of a grandmother when I here the name Amanda.  I would not think anything about it if someone said they named their child Amanda.

I think it's a beautiful name. If you like it, use it. I'm a teen and I have friends who have names like Mary, Gloria, and Colleen.

I see some really weird baby names here in Yahoo Answers.  I can't believe some of the strange names people want to hang on their innocent little babies!

But Amanda is a great name.  Mandy for short.  Maybe it's not an especially popular name right now, but why do you care?  At least she won't be made fun of for her strange name.

The last Amanda I knew was back in the 80s!  A STUNNING two-year-old.  I know, you never saw an ugly two-year-old but this kid was amazing.  The daughter of a workmate of mine.  'Amanda' is Latin for 'worthy of love' or 'lovable', and this kid was!
