c. Suppose Acetyl-CoA is the only molecule a cell has as an energy source. Recall that acetyl-CoA enters the cellular respiration pathway at the start of the citric acid cycle. How many total ATP can be made from 2 acetyl-CoA? Explain your answer and show your calculations.

Each acetyl-CoA produces 3 NADH, 1 FADH2 and 1 ATP, so 2 give you 6 NADH, 2 FADH2 and 2 ATP.
Assuming 2.5 ATP/NADH and 1.5 ATP/FADH2, those will get you 18 more, for a total of 20 ATP
Note: If you are being taught the old values of 3 ATP/NADH and 2 ATP/FADH2, then you would get a total of 24 ATP.
