Am I putting my pets at risk if I get a humidifier/vaporizer device?

I own 1 guinea pig, 1 budgerigar, 2 cats and 1 dog. I was thinking of getting a device that humidifies and vaporizes water with lavender oils. It's becoming colder and colder right here in Australia and I think such a device would be a necessity to prevent nasal congestion.

My other option that won't harm the pets is an air purifier.

An ordinary humidifier that uses just water is fine. A humidifier that vaporizes lavender oil or other essential oils is not safe for some of your pets unless the pets are excluded from the room where it's used.

Yes, inhaling lavender oil can be dangerous.

You live in Mommy's basement with 1 pig, 1 parakeet, 2 cats and 1 dog?  Interesting.

in winter in the U.S., a humidifier is essential. the air gets very dry and pet fur gets dry too. so misting the air is a very good idea for them and you. I have two going non-stop in my house all through the winter.
