Is it possible for someone to forget what happened during a period where they had amnesia once they’ve regained memories that they’ve lost?

To clarify, I was watching an anime where the main character sister seemed to have forgotten everything due to ‘Adolescence Syndrome’. In the show, the syndrome can behave in many different ways, but it always ties back to mental stressors. The sister was bullied and got random cuts on her, and then lost her memory. After about a year or two, she wakes up and seemingly forgets what happened during that time. As if we time traveled to before she has forgotten everything. It was as if the past year didn’t happen and she was just resuming where her past memory left off?

Is something like this possible in real life? That’s what I’m wondering.

Things that happen in cartoons like this rarely happens in real life. People can get amnesia, but not just from getting some cuts and being bullied.
