How effective are home made cotton masks made from tshirt cotton?

    It is recommended to use quilters woven cotton.  

    It I had a tighter weave.  You could also use a high count bed sheet.

    T-shirt fabric is not a good idea. Too thin, too stretchy.  

    A mask shaped like this will be more comfortable to wear, breath and talk in. The quilters cotton woven material will hold its shape. Made with two layers,

    not very--I read that if you put it up to the light you shouldn't be able to see through it--a tshirt can stretch and those fibers get pulled apart....try something with a really tight weave  (I read cotton like quilters use is good) and then top it off with a coffee filter or 5
