The short answer is: Electrons are gained at the cathode, and c. is the only reaction shown that has electrons on the left of the arrow, so c. is the answer.

    The longer explanation is:

    a. The hydrogen atoms do not balance, so this is not happening.

    b. There is no Fe(2+} reactant, so this is not happening.

    c. All the others are wrong, and this one is correctly balanced, so this is the correct answer.

    d. The cathode is where electrons are gained, so this doesn't happen at the cathode.

    e. There is no Fe(2+} product, so this is not happening.
