What would cause my 13-year-old daughter to suddenly need glasses? ?

Last year she could see perfectly but now everything far away is blurry

Change in hormone levels change a lot of things. Also kids around 5 years old...  same thing with the hormones.  So at 5 and 13 years old you'll even see the color of eyes change.

The human body is made from living tissue, not steel.  As people grow and later age, stuff changes.

Eyeballs and eyesight can change for a variety of reasons. Sometimes fast. It's best to take her to an optometrist to find out why her eyesight is worsening and to see if she needs glasses.

Eyesight starts deteriorating at age 5. What happened suddenly was in all likelihood not a deterioration in her eyesight but rather her crossing a tipping point where she could no longer compensate for the deterioration by simply forcing her muscles to distort the shape of her eye in order to bring her sight into focus. Once that point is crossed, a person quickly loses their bearing on what muscle contractions they largely did unconsciously before are required to even just compensate partially to improve the sight.
