How long do you spend in the hospital after getting shot in the bicep?

Hi! My question is for a story. I want to know how long you would spend in the hospital after being shot in the bicep?

It depends. Bullet wounds do require police reports in the hospital. However, if you had a grazing wound you would spend far less time than if your arm was completely blown off.

Do you mean getting shot in the bicep with a bullet?  How long you have to spend in the hospital would be determined by how much damage the bullet had done to your bicep.

If it was only a flesh wound, you might not even be admitted to the hospital. They would just clean the wound, disinfect it, put a dressing on it, give you a shot of antibiotics, and send you on your way. Oh, and notify the police. The police are always notified in case of a gunshot wound.

If the bullet had broken a bone or caused any other major damage to tissues or veins that would require surgery, you would probably end up spending two or three full days in the hospital afterward.

A lot depends on the caliber, the direction and weather or not your bone is hit.  The right bullet and trajectory, you might lose the entire arm, it’s possible it could be a through and through and you’d be out in a couple of hours.  You do realize if you show up to a hospital with a GSW, the police will be called?

It's highly variable.  It depends on what you got shot with and how bad the damage was.  It might require surgery to reattach or it might not.  A grazing wound and you might not need to stay in the hospital at all.  There's a lot of choice here.
