what should I tell the printer for a 6x8 1/4" envelope?

    set up a custom size in the program that will be calling the printer if it doesn't have it already

    "Print" usually seems to work for me after I adjust the settings to the desired size. - of course that is assuming your printer can print envelopes, not all can and I don't know the make or model of your printer or OS.

    Click on Preferences when it calls up your printer dialog, then select Custom.  Here, you can enter the dimensions that you require, my friend.

    Envelope size is 152 mm x 208 mm, which might be standard in Europe, check the printer driver.  Or enter it manually.

    That is all that can be guessed from only "printer" and no details at all.
