Is running healthy for me or not?

I'm a 10k runner for years, I do follow my training plan (Nike app), I also do 2-3 bodyweight or stretch (yoga) exercises per week.

I'm 47, I love running as it supports my mental health. My mum says it's not healthy and recently she said her trainer told her just people who are 10% overweight can run otherwise it causes the health problems I am 15% overweight.

Are my mum and her trainer right?

Running is a high impact exercise. If you are a healthy weight its fine in moderation but when overweight you are putting that much extra strain on your joints and over time it will do damage.

I would either lose weight or see if you can find a low impact exercise that you enjoy like swimming or biking.

Well those extra pounds are eventually going to take a toll on your knees. you should just lose a few pounds.
