How to get rid of bad smell from a plastic bottle from prolonged use?

    if there is a rubber gasket in the lid, that may well what is smelling off.

    You can do the baking soda thing by total immersion and if that doesn't work you can try immersing the whole thing in a water/bleach mixture(not too much bleach.

    ALSO, soaking in plain very hot water often removes odors too. Just filling the bottle sometimes doesn't even touch the actual part that smells bad...sink that sucker into a deep bowl of water and what ever you decide to use instead.

    Make up a solution of water and baking soda, aka bicarbonate of soda, and let it sit in the bottle for a couple of days. It should work. If not, nothing will remove the pong.
