Is $14,322 a lot of money for someone who is middle class?

    It's a couple months' salary. 

    A lot to spend in one place, such as on an engagement ring. Not a lot to have in your savings account.

    If that's income NO

    If that's savings Maybe depending on your age

    If that's unexpected debt it might be

    Is this the amount of savings?  If so, then no it is not.

    No.  Not as income and not as a lump sum. It's not very much.

    If that's a yearly income it's just barely above the POVERTY line. It's not middle class. If it's a tip for a $10 meal, it's a hell of a lot of money.

    A middle class person probably considers $14,322 a lot of money to spend on a vacation or to receive for a raise at work.  A middle class person probably does not consider $14,322 a lot of money to have saved up for retirement or to earn for a year.
