From my perspective, i think number 1 is more authentic, i still get in touch with my friends in Texax.

In number  2, it would be more appropriate if you say,  i still get in touch with my friends who are from Texas.

The first you are indicates that they are still there in Texas and in the second sentence you are given them an identification that they are from Texas.

both are good usage of English.  the first implies the friends are still in Texas; the second might imply friends who used to be from Taxes, but no longer live there.

    It depends on your meaning

The first means they still live in Texas

The second means they used to live in Texas and now live somewhere else

I still get in touch with my friends who live in Texas.

That'll be better but if as in saying they are in Texas other one says from Texas which could show they are from Texas but don't live there.
