Now that curfew was imposed in Minneapolis tonight as National Guard takeover the city is it martial law or no?

    No.  The defining factors in martial law is the direct military control of civilian functions AND suspension of civilian law.   The last time it was done in the USA was when the territorial governor of Hawaii turned over control to the military in Hawaii after the attack at Pearl Harbor.     Use of the National Guard is not martial law because they are under the control of the Governor of the state.   Use of Federal Troops also does not suspend civilian control in the area as they are not in control of normal civilian functions.   Now,  if Trump did try to declare martial law,  suspending civilian control in an area and suspending civilian law,  that would be a reason for EVERYONE to protest.

    A curfew is SEVERAL steps short of martial law.

    A curfew in response to riots is a JOKE.

    No, they are not under martial law.

    The National Guard is supporting the civil authorities.  The civil authorities are still in control of the city.  The state courts are still functioning.  This isn't even qualified martial law.

    Yeah, and at this point, they certainly earned it. It's very possible that more black people will resist authority and get themselves killed.
