is protestors not documenting/reporting vandals and looters comparable to police not reporting other officers that abuse their powers?

i mean, theres a big argument that all police should be held accountable for what the few that abuse their power do because they arent being reported or whatever and theres no way that goes unnoticed.

Isnt this the same thing, that people arent photographing and reporting the vandals and, essentially the riot instigators, among the otherwise angry but still peaceful protesters. Perhaps empassioned is a better word than angry, but you get my point.

are these things comparable here?

Not reporting a law breaker is as bad as the crime. It empowers the law breaker, and virtually tells him/her that it's OK to do it again.
