Is this good to use on a gash in my finger i got from work?

Update:

It is an open wound the whole top layer of skin came off in a little spot on my finger. Small enough to be covered by bandaid.

Neosporin is fine for the first couple of bandage changes. But typically 24 hrs after injury, you should discontinue ointments. The petroleum in them reduces oxygen to a wound and actually inhibits healing. It will heal faster kept covered, but dry.

Check the pull date on the end of the tube.  I've found some in my medicine cabinet that was pretty ancient.

      Probably the store brand equivalent.
