The culinary chefs don't clean their ovens so I don't. The patina along the walls is what makes food taste good.

My self cleaning oven has dials to begin the cleaning cycle. There is an auto lock in that self cleaning mode that prevents the door from being opened because the temperature gets up to over 500 degrees. It is the high temperatures that incinerate the grease and grime to ashes. When the cleaning cycle is over and the oven has cooled down, it is easy to wipe up any ash residue with a damp rag. The oven should be empty of all pots and pans during the cleaning cycle.

My oven is self cleaning. You have to clean it yourself!

Seriously though, it is supposed to be self cleaning, you turn it up to max and it burns the food off . That’s the theory . In reality it just bakes it in making cleaning even harder.

If you are thinking about buying a range, you will want one with a self cleaning oven.  It is better than trying to clean the splatter by hand.  Now, there are recent improvements in the finish inside an oven so that the grease will come off easy without the oven having to burn it off.  Look up LG and some of the new models that have the improved oven.  And, if you are going to get an LG, get one with the new, second generation convection oven. It makes baking entirely different from anything before. Whatever you bake will come out looking professional grade, like you see in a photograph.  Amazing.

The self-cleaning cycle gets the oven hot enough to burn any cooked-on spills and stains to ash, which you can then just sweep out of the oven.

The self-cleaning cycle is CRAZY hot.  The entire stove will be hot to the touch.  Don't leave the house while the cycle is going, but also be aware that you won't want to be around the stove until the cycle is over and the unit has cooled off.  And just so you know, that will take hours.

It basically cooks the crap out of anything on the inside of the oven.

Mine heats up $700 degrees. Anything that was baked on before is turned into a white ash .

It takes up 2 hours . Nothing should be in the oven .

I do mine in the winter since it generates a lot of heat .

It works great but doesn’t do the window very well .

I still use oven cleaner on the glass window .

It’s pretty easy to use .i just take out the trays and turn on the self clean tab and away it goes .

       The door locks .

Highly recommend you keep children away

I never use the self-cleaning feature. It works by cranking up the heat in the oven to a high temperature, that is why you have to lock the oven door to use it. The main problem is that it taxes the oven's heating element. You still have to clean out the burned off stuff after you use it. I think you are better off cleaning the oven manually; it just takes too big a toll on the heating element.
