What size breaker do I need for 13k portable generator?

    this should be used with an extension cord [or three].  Tying into the home wiring is a task for a pro ... the legal and safe way is to install a locking 'break before make' 220v switch in the main power feed from the electric meter [before the breaker box].  This needs a permit pulled and to be inspected by your local building department.

      That is the proper way to connect a backup generator. It is DEAD WRONG for a portable generator that CAN'T legally tie into home wiring.

    NONE. A portable generator IS NOT designed to tie into home wiring and has its own breaker for the load connected to it.
