Why does my gas stovetop "explode"?
We've had a natural gas stovetop for years. During the last few m onths we've had several small explosions while cooking. This happens after we've been cooking for a while then there's a "whoosh" and flames shoot out from under the pot and the gas ring goes out. It's not a destructive explosion except I was so startled I threw food over the bench.

start by cleaning the gas ring ... rather obviously, when you haven't been using it for a few hours. flames shooting out suggests that a buildup of unburned gas suddenly escaped -- and burst into flame. that might have several causes -- clean first, then if it doesn't stop -- call for service

Sounds like your gonna need a applance tech check it. Or possibly gas company see if there having any service issues. There might be a simple fix but Gas goes boom an in right conditions can make house disappear. So I'd get a pro out.
