Do you think it was wrong of Disney to give in to political correctness by banning Song of the South?

Song of the South is history and it shouldn’t be banned just because of some butt hurt babies complaining it’s racist for being Historically accurate.

Many Slaves were treated like family and the slaves wanted to reunite with their Masters in heaven.

Millions of Blacks joined the confederacy because they didn’t want to lose the only love they ever had in their lives.

The only family they ever had.

Update:

Even though Song of the south takes place after the civil war butt hurt babies don’t know that which makes it even more ridiculous.

Yes.  I'm 75 years and grew up with Song of the South and stories that were recreated in the movie.  If one stops looking for racism every where and look for the morals of the stories people would be better off.

I agree it was wrong. Nobody is perfect, we all have our faults. Also, must not judge history by today's standards. Some people are also so sensitive, and want to find racism in everything.

I watched Song of the South, and thought it was a good movie, with good music.

Here in South Africa also there are movies now banned, because of being considered racist. A good example is by the local comedian Leon Schuster.

The reality is, this isn't any different from when Disney picks one of its more popular movies and 'locks it away in the vault' for 25 years so it can release it later to another generation and stir up new interest in it. The entire time, the movie is in wide circulation anyway in various forms among private people who enjoy it. The move to keep it from being shown publicly only creates greater interest in the future and makes it more valuable to people in the interim.

Placating racists who are actively looking for cultural and artistic expressions to destroy as part of their 'black only' racist mob movement is corporate common sense, especially when it benefits your company anyway in the long run. If Disney had any real scruples, they would stand up to the racism and the censorship, but alas, they are a government regulated and controlled 'super company' so they really have no choice anymore. Whatever the government is dumb enough to enforce is the standard.

This is why socialism is extremely dangerous. Government mandates, (usually driven by mob mentalities and emotional outcries), begin to replace genuine religion, conscience and common sense. 'Too Big to Fail' is the mantra into hell.

Yes it was wrong. Almost everything happening in the last month since Floyd died of drugs in his system (not police brutality) has been wrong.

There are other articles out there that prove the police really is innocent. First they get rid of the police over these lies then criminals get away scot free with crimes/terror. This isn’t justice, it’s injustice.

By painting this as a racial murder when it wasn’t racial nor murder theyre trying to destroy the whole system.

Destroying white supremacy, capitalism, history, confederacy, banning the confederate flag from USMC bases, tearing down statues is what Trump, BLM, Putin and others want.

I think we need to remember how we used to think. Hiding it is counterproductive in the long run.

Disney Co. has a major problem in that while now it's a paragon of gay rights and the like, its very name carries the legacy of its founder's racist/misogynist views and actions. Hard to say how far all this renaming of everything will go. But Disney is probably right to make as many little changes as it can before the mob does its research and figures out what a bigot Walt himself was.

    Yes. Political correctness is getting out of hand. {Ironically, denying / rewriting history and the past is called "whitewashing."}
