Before unification, Germany consisted of a large number of small kingdoms, each with its own royal line.  Until the mid 20th century, royalty only married royalty, so you only needed to go back a few generations to find a German.  Prince Philip was descended from the royal families of Greece and Denmark, but both had German ancestors.  His education started in Germany, but the school moved to Gordonstoun in Scotland in the 1930s to escape the Nazis.  After school, he joined the Royal Navy.  His sisters were eligible royal marriage fodder and both married back into minor German royalty.  Their husbands were nominally officers in the Wehrmacht (just as our royals are) and joined the Nazi party when it took over.  Prince Philip disowned them - after all, you can't be held responsible for what your brother-in-law decides to do.  The Queen has a lot of German ancestry.  Her grandmother, Queen Mary came from Germany and had a German accent.  During WW1, she had to keep her mouth shut.

Prince Philip is Danish-German-English-Russian. He is from the Royal  House of Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Glücksburg, and was born a Prince of Denmark and Greece. He became a naturalized British citizen and a British royal duke and prince, although, as a descendant of the Stuart family's Electress Sophia of Hanover, was considered a British citizen under an archaic law.

Some of Philip's sisters were married to men who were part of the Nazi party--which is why Philip did not see much of his siblings. Philip fought for Britain and her allies.

Sophie married Prince Christoph of Hesse, who held  held the rank of Oberführer in the Nazi SS.

Margarita married Gottfried, 8th Prince of Hohenlohe-Langenburg, who served in the German Army during World War II.

He is now totally British but his mother was German, his father Greek, his grandmother Russian, his grandfather Danish, basically the same sort of mix as most European monarchies of the time, thanks to Queen Victoria and King Christian IX marrying off their offspring around the various royal houses. His sisters wedded Germans when they couldn't realistically be anything other than Nazi. His mother is commemorated at Yad Vashem for sheltering Jews from the Nazis in occupied Athens after the Fall of Greece.

Yes. He and the Queen both have lots of German ancestry. And, yes, his sisters and their husbands lived their lives in Germany and were members of the Nazi party.

He is ethnically Danish, Greek by birth and British by descent from The Electress Sophia as well as by naturalisation according to the laws in effect in The UK in 1946-7

No, he was born in Greece as a Prince of Greece and Denmark, he does have German ancestry. He chose to become a naturalized British citizen and renounced all of his foreign titles. His sisters all married German high ranking officers and Lt Philip Mountbatten disowned them.
