Slope intercept form is

y = mx + b

m is the slope

b is the y-intercept

-----------------------

Find the slope

m = rise/run

m = ∆y/∆x

m = (y₂ - y₁) / (x₂ - x₁)

m = (-1 - -3) / (-3 - -4)

m = 2/1

m = 2

---------------------

To find "b" plug in m = 2 and either point into the slope intercept formula

using point (-3, -1)

y = mx + b

-1 = 2(-3) + b

-1 = -6 + b

b = 5

-------------------------

With m = 2 and b = 5 the equation becomes

y = 2x + 5 <–––––––
