Tim Berners-Lee invented the World Wide Web. While it’s often confused with the internet itself, the web is actually just the most common means of accessing data online in the form of websites and hyperlinks.

Internet was based around communication often used by French Napoleonic armies where signal houses would attempt to relay information using what we consider bits nowdays, probably was similar to morse code. That is to say that back than the fact wireless communication was refined to recognizable system. (1)

Networking of computers proper than began in late 1950s for military uses at Semi-Automatic Ground Environment radar instalation(s). It weas not untill end of that decade when first civilian patents in the field began to be filed (2), but even than it took whole decade before first computer network was established ARPANET (3).

Sufficed to say that there are great many people contributing to what we now understand as internet over very long time, there is no individual solely responsible to creation of concept or even physical network itself.
