Gardening is a very rewarding experience.  With that said, one has to be committed in order to have a successful garden.  You will have to plot out the area you want to have for your garden.  Then, you have to prepare the soil.  Ask someone at a nursery to advise you on the kinds of things you will need for that.  Decide what you want in your garden, and figure out what will grow within the radius of the area you've selected.  Get your seeds or plants that are appropriate for your growing zone, and plant them.  You will then need to watch your plants, keep out weeds, maybe get some netting or covering to keep out rabbits/squirrels/deer, etc., water consistently, and let the sun help your plants to grow.  You will eventually be rewarded with delicious home-grown produce.

You have to want to do it everyday and that is because WEEDS NEVER STOP GROWING. You have to hand pull each weed out so you get the roots too and that will slow its return. You have to recognized which is what you want and which is a weed. There is 100,000,000 different types of weeds and only 1 plant you are protecting.  Start small like in a 1'x1' by 1'deep box.  See how well you can keep it weeded.  I thought 8x8 was manageable, but if I never visit, (it is full of weeds)

No.  But it's hard to become a good one, like any other occupation.

Do you mean a professional gardener or a hobby gardener? Having gardening as a hobby is easy because you can take it slow and learn a little at a time. In must US states they have a program called Master Gardeners where you can attend classes to learn more about the hobby.

If you want to be a professional gardener and not just some one who cuts grass you need lots of knowledge, experience and training. You can get degrees in the subject at most colleges and associate degrees at some community colleges.
