Will weight lifting increase stamina if you lift heavy with high intensity and short rest periods, which is basically HIIT? ?

Try adding some cardio to your weight lifting routine. I usually deadlift a couple hundred pounds then run around the gym a few times before I put the weight down.

Cardio will increase your energy and stamina, you can go jugging or use a treadmill and do 30 minutes of cardio exercise. If you want to warm up for weight lifting just do about 10 minutes of cardio and that will do. I find cardio exercise very stimulating and energizing, and it does get your heart rate going. This is best done in the morning, if you do, do cardio make sure you never do it at night, you will be so energized that you won't be able to fall asleep. Been there done that.
